1live: material matters!

task: a two-storey 1960's building in the Cologne city center is supposed to house the youth radio station 1live w/ studios and office spaces. 1live, a subsidiary of the state broadcasting company WDR, requested an autonomous architectural identity for it's new headquarter. the use of urban materials, of suspended ceilings and walls where indespensible only, turns the given building, a former warehouse, into a loft. transparent studio walls and acoustic curtains stimulte a communicative working atmosphere. design team: Jens Casper, Lina Müller, Matthias Grabe, Stefan Kluth, Silvia Huth; client: 1LIVE / WDR Westdeutscher Rundfunk, Cologne, represented by Jochen Rausch and Ulrich Krapp. |
