Conversion of a 19th Century Industrial Monument 2008ff.

task: conversion of a former pump station into office spaces for the headquarter of a communication agency. The pump station 'Radialsystem III' was part of Berlin's 19th century waste water system surrounding the city center. The original building, projected by the municipal master builder James Hobrecht, and finished in 1875, was altered several times, until it finally became a museum for historic stone statues, a 'Lapidarium', in the 1980's. The listed building will be transformed with a single spatial intervention: a concrete implant to provide additional space, spatial and functional variety, and privacy. status: under construction.
