Conversion of a 19th Century Industrial Monument 2008ff. (under construction)

task: conversion of a former pump station into office spaces for the headquarter of a communication agency. The pump station 'Radialsystem III' was part of Berlin's 19th century waste water system surrounding the city center. The original building, projected by James Hobrecht and finished in 1875, was altered several times, until it finally became a museum for stone statues, a 'Lapidarium'. The building will mainly be transformed with a single spatial intervention to provide privacy and space for additional workstations, existing spaces will be contemporarily reread, lost historical layers re-established.
